New veterinary practitioner joins Glanbia Ireland

Experienced veterinary practitioner Joris Somers joined the Glanbia Ireland team in June. After moving to Ireland from Belgium in 2011, Joris spent eight years working for UCD in the Vet School, training future vets and providing a herd health service to several Glanbia Ireland suppliers in the Meath, Kildare and Wicklow area.

Joris has an interest in all aspects of herd health, infectious diseases, lameness and overall cattle welfare and has the ambition to support all Glanbia Ireland suppliers in these areas.

As part of his role with Glanbia Ireland, Joris will be tasked with supervising and enhancing the Herd Disease Screening and Milk Culturing Service as well as providing animal health updates and advice across the various Glanbia Ireland platforms.

Over the next few months, you will be able to meet Joris at discussion group meetings or other farming events.
