Glanbia Monitor Farmers: Grass Growth Update
Grass Growth on GII / Teagasc Monitor farms increased in the period from December 1st to April 10th in comparison to the previous two years.
On average across the 11 Glanbia Monitor farms, grass growth was 1.77 tonnes DM/hectare in this time period. This is over 1 tonne DM/Hectare more than in the equivalent period in 2016 and over a half tonne more than in the equivalent period in 2015.
Better growth this year is due to the mild spring weather this year in comparison to 2016, early nitrogen application and an increase in soil fertility.
