In 2019 Twenty20 Beef Club signed up just over 80 calf to beef finishers into the pilot phase of the programme which amounted to over 6,000 head of calves that are currently being processed in Kepak processing facilities in Clonee, Kilbeggan and Watergrasshill.

Last year, the Beef Club signed up over 300 beef finishers with 20,000 calves signed into the programme. In 2021 the Twenty20 Beef Club has capacity to increase calf numbers to 50,000 head.

Twenty20 Beef Club is providing both dairy and beef farmers a sustainable market for their beef animals.  Glanbia milk suppliers that are signed up to the club as animal suppliers are finding the Twenty20 Beef Club a great market outlet for the beef calves that they are producing.

Beef Club members that are beef finishers are finding Twenty20 Beef Club to be adding a substantal premium to their finishing price with an average premium amounting to €100/head on the finished animal.

To date Kepak are pleased with the quaility of the club cattle processed.  Twenty20 Beef Club cattle are leading the way in terms of traceability, suitable carcass weights ranges especially in steak cuts that are showing high levels of meat eating quality.

Our club ambition is to continuing to improve the overall quailty of club cattle through better genetics and nutrition.

A new feature to the Beef Club this year is a calf locator app which will help both dairy calf suppliers and beef calf rearers to come together in terms of selling and buying calves.  The App will show club members what calves are for sale and allow the beef farmer to look at the genetic make up of the animals for sale.    Dairy farmers who are signed into the club will simply market the calves they wish to sell into the club. Beef farmers/calf rearers signed will then assess the calves for sale and select calves to suit their system.

Twenty20 Beef Clubs technical support team is available to all club members to support you in the areas of genetic selection, calf rearing, animal health, soil and animal nutrition advice.
