Strategies for feeding, rearing and monitoring the growth of young calves to prevent cryptosporidiosis and AMR.

The number of calves born on Irish dairy farms has increased by almost 300,000 over the past decade to an estimated 1.3 million in 2017.

In addition improving dairy herd fertility is resulting in a more concentrated calving season. With this in mind, Teagasc and Animal Health Ireland in conjunction with Glanbia have joined forces to organise four CalfCare events.

The open day is focusing on four main topics:

  • Feeding for lifetime Performance
  • Good Stockmanship
  • Cryptosporidiosis – prevention and control
  • Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR)
If you want to learn more about these topics come along to the open day at Ballyhaise Agricultural College Farm. GPS: 54.0516, -7.3116
