GlanbiaConnect named “Website of the year” at Retail Excellence Awards
GlanbiaConnect.com, Ireland’s biggest online farming store claimed the coveted “Website of the Year 2019” title at the Retail Excellence Awards.
The 21st Annual Retail Excellence Awards which are backed by AIB Merchant services were held on Saturday 10th November at the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney. Over 500 retailers attended the event which recognises Irish retailers who are leading the way in their sectors.
GlanbiaConnect demonstrated its best in class ecommerce credentials setting itself apart from more than 70 retailers that entered the category. The judging consisted of a rigorous audit of the site focusing on customer usability and technical development.
Following the audit, entrants were whittled down to three finalists - GlanbiaConnect, Harry Corry and Arboretum. A final presentation was made by each finalist to an expert judging panel made up of ecommerce experts from Ecommerce Europe, Core Optimisation and IE Domain Registry.
Commenting on the win, Glanbia Marketing Manager for Retail and Ecommerce James Byrne, said, “We’re delighted to bring home the prize for best website. Our team have dedicated themselves to creating the best online customer experience at GlanbiaConnect.com. This is just the beginning for us and we have lots of new features on the way.
Farming is technologically advanced and our farmer customers depend on high quality online services to run their businesses. The majority of our website traffic now comes from smart phones. Farmers are busy, and we needed to develop a site that as well as looking great, delivers the same experience and speed in the field as it does on a computer.
The new Glanbia Connect website has been well received by customers, with traffic and sales increasing threefold year on year. Customers can manage their farm business and shop online at a time that suits them, or click and reserve for collection in any of Glanbia’s 53 stores.”
James Byrne said that retail is becoming increasingly boundary-less and Irish consumers are spending over €20 million every day online. As well as being Ireland’s biggest online store for farming, the site also sells a wide range of products for gardeners and pet owners.”
Group CEO of Retail Excellence David Fitzsimons said “We are delighted to recognize and award the very best in Irish retail all of whom have shown an unquestionable commitment to meeting and exceeding customer expectations as well as innovation in store and in-service delivery.”
GlanbiaConnect is gearing up for their biggest ever Black Friday sale event across farm, pet, garden and fuel which launches on Thursday November 15th at www.glanbiaconnect.com/shop
