With a Met Eireann Status Red warning in place across the entire country today, Glanbia Ireland Chairman Henry Corbally has advised farmers to take all possible steps to ensure their own personal safety.

Across the business, Glanbia is taking steps to ensure that safety is prioritised.

  • Milk collections will be suspended for a period in the worst affected areas, but we will ensure disruption is minimised. Extra collections took place overnight on Sunday in preparation for the forecast conditions.
  • All Glanbia branches opened Monday morning for essential supplies but will close from 11am for safety reasons.
  • Scheduled non-essential events have been cancelled.
  • There may be some disruption to feed deliveries depending on local conditions.

Glanbia will continue to monitor the situation. Henry Corbally said: “The most important message is to ensure your own personal safety as the storm crosses the country. Farmyards are particular dangerous workplaces during Status Red weather conditions.”

“Remember – once the storm passes, the danger won’t. There are likely to be hazards on farms and on the roads.”

Farmers are reminded to charge electrical devices such as phones and torches in preparation for likely disruption to electrical supplies.
