Glanbia Ireland Chairman Henry Corbally has advised farmers to take all possible steps to ensure their own safety while working on farms.

A combination of heavy snowfall and the arrival of Storm Emma is predicted to bring severe weather conditions to many parts of Ireland this week. Met Eireann is advising that the worst of the conditions are expected across Wednesday, Thursday and into Friday with a status orange weather alert coming into effect this afternoon in Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.

Milk Collection continues currently however there will be disruption in certain areas starting from today (Wednesday).

Farm Advisory: Scheduled non-essential events have been cancelled. Suppliers are advised to liaise with the farm advisory teams who will assist milk suppliers that may have access or collection challenges.

Glanbia Connect will continue to be updated with relevant weather advice. Urgent communications will also be delivered via text updates.

Glanbia will continue to monitor the situation. Henry Corbally said: “The most important message is to ensure your own personal safety. Farmyards are dangerous workplaces and this is further exacerbated during Status Red weather conditions.”
