100 years since The Creamery first opened its doors in 1917, the Glanbia Agribusiness branch in Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Ballyragget Co-operative Society.

The current staff of the branch were joined by a large crowd of shareholders, customers, former employees and suppliers, to celebrate the occasion and learn about the history of the site The day kicked off with interviews with former Kilkenny Senior Hurlers Jackie Tyrrell and Tommy Walsh. This was followed by an interview with Nickey Brennan, former Glanbia Employee and ex GAA President, about the history of the site and the co-operative and a final interview with Ann Downey, Kilkenny Camogie Manager.

Jim Bergin, CEO of Glanbia Ireland, performed the official opening ceremony where he spoke fondly of his childhood memories of the co-op growing up in Ballyragget. He was joined by Glanbia Chairman Henry Corbally and Chairperson of the local advisory committee, Paudie Brennan to conclude the day’s events.

The branch manager of Glanbia Agribusiness Ballyragget branch Liam Geoghegan is proud of the role the branch plays in supporting local farmers and the local community. “We’re in the heart of the village here and provide everything a farmer needs right on their doorstep. We’re a busy centre for farm hardware, GAIN Animal Nutrition and fertiliser. We’ve plenty for the non-farmer too, our own GAIN Pet Nutrition range and great deals on solid fuel, household and hardware. We’d like to thank everyone who attended our event today and we look forward to being here in another 100 years.”
