GII All Co-op Dairy

Glanbia Ireland (GI) has once again been awarded a Gold Star rating from EcoVadis while also improving on last year’s rating. This places GI not only in the top 1% of Dairy suppliers but in the top 1% of all suppliers assessed across all categories.

Improvements were noted under the headings of Labour Practices and Sustainable Procurement. The advances have moved Glanbia Ireland from its former position of within the top 3% in dairy globally into the top 1% of dairy suppliers and top 1% all suppliers assessed across all categories.

EcoVadis provides the leading solution for monitoring sustainability in global supply chains. Using innovative technology and CSR expertise, EcoVadis aims to help buyers and suppliers adopt more sustainable practices across the pillars of Environment, Fair Business Practices, Sustainable Procurement and Labour Practices.

Sustainability Manager for Glanbia Ireland, Audrey O’ Shea said,

“This is something that the entire organisation can be very proud of and illustrates our core value of ‘#winning together’. While a small team of people worked hard on pulling together and completing the assessment which led to the Gold Star rating, everyone in GI contributes to this achievement through their everyday work practices and we are very pleased to see the consistent improvement in our rating year on year. This is a very important achievement for all of us as the EcoVadis rating is a requirement for many of our customers.”

The goal of the EcoVadis rating is to produce reliable assessment on companies’ CSR performance, providing them with comprehensive feedback, standards and tools, which in turn allow them to embark upon a journey of continuous improvement. A team of international Sustainable Development experts analyse and cross-check suppliers’ data in order to create reliable ratings, taking into account each company’s sector, size and geographical location. EcoVadis offers access to web-based solutions, where buyers and suppliers can access the EcoVadis Scorecard and share information

The EcoVadis methodology is based on international Sustainable Development standards (Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact, ISO 26000), and supervised by a scientific committee of CSR and Supply Chain experts, to ensure reliable third-party CSR assessment.

Thousands of suppliers are using the EcoVadis platform every month to reply to CSR assessment requests from customers, to set and maintain corrective action plans or to centralize CSR related documents.

EcoVadis has 30.000 subscribers, based in 110 different countries and 150 different industry sectors. Around 150 multinational companies use EcoVadis to monitor the CSR performance of their suppliers.
