3D Secure – A safe way to shop online

3D Secure is a tool used to enhance the security of your existing debit/credit card for use when shopping on GlanbiaConnect or CountryLife.

It is an additional security step to insure you have a comfortable and safe online experience.

Even if someone knows your credit or debit card number, the purchase cannot be completed without a unique code, sent to your phone by your bank.

What is 3D Secure?

3D secure is a fraud prevention system that protects customers from unauthorised online use of their debit/credit card.

What will happen?

When you purchase goods from Glanbia Connect or Countrylife, you will be prompted to enter a one-time passcode which will be sent to your mobile phone by text message to authorise the transaction and confirm that the card is yours. You will have a set amount of time and a number of attempts to enter the passcode correctly. If you do not enter the passcode correctly you will be unable to complete the online purchase. The passcode will only be valid for the online purchase you have received it for.

How does 3D Secure protect me?

When you correctly enter your 3D Secure personal code during a purchase online, you are confirming that you are the authorised cardholder and the purchase is then completed.  If an incorrect code is entered, e.g. by a thief, the purchase will not be completed.  Even if someone knows your credit or debit card number, the purchase cannot be completed without the personal code.

What if I doesn’t have a phone mobile number associated with my credit/debit card?

When you are shopping online using 3D Secure and your banking institution doesn’t have a mobile number to send you a one-time passcode, you will be asked to provide it by calling your bank on the telephone number provided on-screen.
