Efficiency in Dairy Farm Walk

Come and join us on the farm of Shane O’Loughlin to pick up key insights from the winner of the Origin Green Large Herd Dairy Award.

Shane is always looking to simplify his system to make the farm as labour-efficient as possible. So there will be lots of opportunity to gain some simple tips that can help streamline your business.

The open day on the farm in Oghill, Monasterevin, Co Kildare on from 11am on Tuesday, August 27th is being held in conjunction with Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme and all are welcome.

Shane started farming with his father Dermot full-time in 2005 after spending some time travelling and working on farms in the Canada, US and New Zealand. They currently have 190 spring-calving cows and 50 autumn-calvers on their farm. There is 64ha in the grazing platform and a further 86ha of outblocks.

Shane will be giving tips from his own practical experience, with some of the speakers on the day including Teagasc’s dairy specialist George Ramsbottom and Richie O’Brien, Glanbia Ireland’s John Murphy and Anne Browne, Glanbia Ireland’s Emma O’Grady will discuss ASSAP and Bord Bia’s Eleanor Morrissey.
