2018 CalfCare Events

A series of calfcare events will take place across the country in January 2018 two of which will take place on Glanbia Ireland supplier farms.

The number of calves born on Irish dairy farms has increased by almost 300,000 over the past decade to an estimated 1.3 million in 2018. In addition improving dairy herd fertility is resulting in a more concentrated calving season. With this in mind, Teagasc and Animal Health Ireland in conjunction with the dairy milk processors supported by Volac, have joined forces to organise a series of CalfCare events, two of which will take place on Glanbia Ireland supplier farms.

Each of the events will focus on four topics:

• Johne’s control in the young calf;
• Disinfection of calf housing and equipment;
• An update on calf housing specifications;
• Saving labour during the calving season.
